FLC Senior Trial Consultants Speak at Miami-Dade County’s Largest Bench and Bar Conference on Jury Selection
February 2016 – Senior trial consultants Marjorie J. Sommer and Geri E. Satin spoke on jury selection at the Dade County Bar Association’s Fifth Annual Bench & Bar Conference, held on Friday, February 26, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Miami.
With 950 attorneys, judges, and general counsels in attendance, the Bench & Bar Conference was one of the largest litigation and corporate law seminars in Florida. The conference offered a myriad of programs of benefit to all members of the South Florida legal community, attracting local and national corporate counsel, in-house attorneys, litigators, judges, mediators, and legal professionals.
Senior trial consultant Marjorie Sommer spoke on a one-hour panel entitled Voir Dire Panels and Pitfalls: The Experts Weigh In with Hon. Federico Moreno, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Hon. Rodolfo Ruiz, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, Joel Hirschhorn, Gray Robinson, and Karen Gilbert, U.S. Attorneys Office for the Southern District of Florida. The panel session was moderated by Mark Heise of Boies Schiller & Flexner.
Senior trial consultant Geri Satin co-moderated a two-hour executive showcase entitled Voir Dire: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Including a Frank Discussion with Real Jurors) with Hon. Jerald Bagley, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, and Joseph P. Farina, Former Chief Judge, Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. The panel consisted of a demonstration of good and bad voir dire techniques followed by real jurors providing insight into their jury trial experiences and responding to questions from audience members.
