FLC Co-Founders Present at the Florida Bar Convention
June 2019 – Focus Litigation Consulting co-founders, Dr. Geri Satin and Marjorie Sommer, conducted a one hour presentation at this year’s annual Florida Bar Convention.
The presentation covered the dangers of bias in legal decision making and one of the most effective and reliable methods by which to take on these biases at trial.
Pre-trial research, i.e., mock trials and focus groups, fleshes out which cognitive biases, attitudinal preconceptions, and imperfect human judgments pervade in a particular case (and how they impact decision making) – so that they can be addressed at trial.
The CLE dissected the anatomy of an empirical mock trial, and covered different analytical findings derived from pretrial research, including, but not limited to, forecasting verdicts, juror profiling, theming/narrative creation, and client management.
