Trial/Jury Consultant Position
Seeking an experienced Trial/Jury Consultant.
About the Job
Focus Litigation Consulting, LLC is seeking an experienced Trial/Jury Consultant to join our elite national jury research and trial consulting firm. The professional will work with our team to prepare and conduct in-person and online jury research exercises, including mock trials and focus groups, assist with statistical analyses and report writing, conduct community attitude and change-of-venue surveys, support the development of supplemental juror questionnaires, prepare witnesses, and assist with jury selection and shadow juries.
We are seeking someone with excellent quantitative and qualitative skills who can quickly become seamlessly integrated into the collaborative environment at Focus Litigation Consulting, LLC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work directly with Senior and Associate Trial Consultants in preparing questionnaires for mock trials and focus groups.
- Help conduct both online and in-person jury research exercises. This includes but is not limited to: checking-in mock jurors, distributing and collecting questionnaires, giving juror instructions, writing case presentation notes, watching and running deliberations, conducting Q&A sessions with mock jurors, and debriefing mock jurors.
- Provide support with data collection and data cleaning using SPSS and excel files.
- Conduct various statistical analyses using SPSS syntax to analyze verdicts, witness credibility assessments, and juror profiling.
- Collaborate with Senior and Associate Trial Consultants on case, theme, discovery, and visual aid strategy.
- Assist with venue and community attitude surveys.
- Provide feedback and suggestions on supplemental juror questionnaires.
- Work directly with attorneys and clients to help with pre-trial preparation, mock trial and focus group preparation, and witness preparation.
- Help plan, prepare, and present PowerPoint presentations for the occasional educational talk (e.g., conferences).
- Attend networking events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience working as a trial/jury consultant or litigation strategist (3+ years preferred)
- Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred)
- Experience designing research surveys and conducting qualitative and quantitative research studies (experience using Qualtrics preferred)
- Experience qualitatively analyzing juror feedback and drafting jury research reports with thematic takeaways, case problems, and strategies and solutions for trial
- Expertise using a statistical software program (SPSS) to analyze research results
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment

- Proven legal project management skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and interact effectively with all levels of personnel, including recruiters, transcribers, and project management staff
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a remote environment
- Able to keep up with high volume and high velocity of work to reach results and project completion
- Experienced at prioritizing and following up so that projects or outstanding items are completed
- Able to focus on consistency in delivering on projects and working with others
- Proven ability to take initiative to identify issues and solutions and make recommendations
- Agile mindset, able to respond quickly and positively to shifting priorities, requests, and demands from the business
- Team-oriented, open to input from others
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Microsoft® Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom, Qualtrics, and SPSS statistical software.
Work Environment
- Fully remote position (i.e., ability to work from home office)
- Travel requirement (up to 2-3 times a month for 2-3 days at a time)
- Position requires regular interaction with employees at all levels of the Firm, along with interfacing with external vendors and clients when necessary
